Tom Crann interviews Minnesota writer Ann Bauer about her book "A Wild Ride up the Cupboards," a story of how one family struggles with their son's withdrawal, and how his parents, Jack and Rachel, make sense of it in their own ways.
In her first novel, Bauer tells the story of a child who disappears from time to time and his parents will do almost anything they can think of to get him back. The child’s name is Edward, and he doesn't run away; he becomes distant, and draws into himself. Ann Bauer says in the book she deliberately chose not to name the condition that causes little Edward to "disappear."
