MPR’s David Molpus interviews Don Blyly about a peculiar Christmas Day surprise at his Minneapolis bookstore.
It was preparation for a post-holiday sale that probably saved the life of a Minneapolis man who attempted to enter a south Minneapolis store through a method more fitting for a jolly man in a red suit. Don Blyly, owner of Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction bookstore on Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis, arrived at work on Christmas morning to hear Joseph Hubbert yelling for help from an unlikely source -- the store's chimney. Blyly says he stopped by the store to simply put up a few signs for today's after-Christmas sale, but he soon found himself working overtime.
