MPR’s Annie Feidt reports on a group of Hmong teenage girls from St. Paul leaving for Thailand and Laos to retrace the journey their parents took to this country. They're calling their trip "the Homeland Project."
None of the five girls have memories of Laos themselves. Two were born in Thai refugee camps, and three were born in the U.S., after their parents settled here. The girls hope the trip will help them better understand the deep cultural divide that separates them from their parents.
