All Things Considered’s Lorna Benson talks with Midori Gotō, one of the world's most accomplished violinists. She says she is looking forward to performing Barber's violin concerto with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Midori made her first big mark on the classical music world at age 14, when she broke two strings performing Leonard Bernstein's "Serenade" with the New York City Philharmonic. In a situation that would have floored many performers she went on to finish the piece. In the 16 years since, Midori has successfully made the transition from child prodigy to adult performer.
