SPEAKER 1: I think too much was expected of him. I don't think they were that good to begin with. There were only 500 last year. And I think it was blown out of proportion. If you look at it, last year, they didn't do anything that great. I think everybody had their hopes up too high.

SPEAKER 2: I thought they were going to be great. I thought we'd win the division, hands down.

SPEAKER 3: I think that they're off to a good start this year, and I just don't really think that they've really gotten that much cohesion together as a team. It seemed like they went through a problem with their pitching, and then all the good hitters on the team were down in the dumps because they were having lousy pitching not to support them.

They were hitting good at the beginning of the season. Then their pitching wasn't holding them up when they should be winning.

SPEAKER 4: They lose every time I come.

[LAUGHTER]

Every time.

SPEAKER 5: We're holding out hope for next year.

SPEAKER 6: I see. You think they're going to be good next year.

SPEAKER 5: Well, whether they are or not, they're the only team around here. [LAUGHS]

SPEAKER 7: They're not the team of this year or next year. But four years down the road, they're going to be in a World Series.

SPEAKER 8: We got to have a little pitching. We got Tom Brunansky. We got Kent Hrbek. Now you put somebody between them and Kirby Puckett. You get another-- you get somebody with some muscle that can-- between the first five, six batters in there, you're going to see one hell of a team next year.

SPEAKER 6: Do you think the Twins appreciate their fans?

SPEAKER 8: Yes, I do.

SPEAKER 6: They're raising the ticket prices. Some people seem to be pretty upset about that.

SPEAKER 5: It sucks.

SPEAKER 8: Well, they can raise them.

SPEAKER 6: You think they should?

SPEAKER 8: Because I think it's worth it.

SPEAKER 1: It's still the cheapest game in town, though, when you consider-- compare it to hockey or football or something like that.

SPEAKER 5: Well, I think if they really appreciate the fans, they wouldn't raise the tickets to $6 and make them reserve seats in the lower deck outfield. That's what I think.

SPEAKER 8: Well, they could have raised it to five.

SPEAKER 6: [LAUGHS]

SPEAKER 8: Why go two? Why not go one?

SPEAKER 6: What do you think of the Metrodome?

SPEAKER 7: I like the Metrodome. We were talking about that on the way in here tonight-- 40 degrees outside-- and said, boy, I'm glad we're not playing at the Met.

[LAUGHTER]

I'm from Bloomington. And when they said they were building a downtown, I said I'd never go back to the dome. Four months later, I was working here.

SPEAKER 8: Oh, we used to-- I'll tell you, there's only one bad thing about this dome because you can't tailgate.

SPEAKER 6: [LAUGHS]

SPEAKER 8: You got to tailgate in the hallways, and that ain't right.

SPEAKER 6: Well, the Twins are-- the Twins are losing, but you're still having fun at the ballpark?

SPEAKER 4: Oh, yeah. It's a blast.

SPEAKER 6: What makes it fun?

SPEAKER 4: The atmosphere, the food, cheering. Makes it fun.

SPEAKER 6: So it doesn't really matter to you how well the Twins do?

SPEAKER 4: No. No, it doesn't. I like to see them win. But I still have fun either way.
