October 15, 2002 - MPR’s Lorna Benson interviews Mai Nemg Moua, author and editor of "Bamboo Among the Oaks: Contemporary Writing by Hmong-Americans," which features stories, poems and essays written by the first generation of Hmong to grow up in the United States. It is the first Hmong anthology ever published.
September 16, 2002 - Gordon Wittenmyer, who follows the Twins for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, comments on the Minnesota Twins preparing for the post season for the first time since 1991. The Twins clinched the AL Central with a win over Cleveland Indians and a Chicago White Sox loss to the New York Yankees. Wittenmyer says the prior night's locker room celebration went on and on.
August 16, 2002 - The city of Roseau is still recovering from the June floods that devastated the small northeastern Minnesota town. Ninety-nine percent of the town's residents suffered damage to their homes, and more than 100 local businesses have been affected. Insurance and federal disaster aid have helped, but tens of millions more are needed to help rebuild the community. Vocalist Janis Hardy grew up in Roseau and many of her relatives still live there. Monday night, she and a group of her musical friends will perform in a benefit concert for Roseau at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. Hardy says she knew she had to do something to help after hearing her relatives describe the devastation to her over the phone.
August 14, 2002 - Catholic bishops in Minnesota and around the nation are observing a day of atonement today for what they've called their "omissions and sins" in the church's sexual abuse crisis. The bishops also ask prayers for guidance as they embark on a new sexual-abuse policy they approved in June. Richard Pates, auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, says church officials hope people who have been abused and others in the church can eventually forgive clergy who did wrong.
August 2, 2002 - The Minnesota Twins open a four-game homestand against the Kansas City Royals tonight. The Twins are now 15 games ahead of the second-place White Sox in the A-L Central after beating Chicago 6 to nothing last night at the Metrodome. Eric Milton struck out eleven in that game for his 13th win this year. This is the third consecutive season that Milton has won at least 13 games for the Twins. Back in 1988, Former Twins pitcher Frank Viola set the team record of four consecutive seasons with at least 13 wins. St. Paul Pioneer Press sports reporter Gordon Wittenmeyer says Milton has been especially strong since the middle of June, but he's always been a dominant player.

April 25, 2002 - A man who was born in Waseca is a cast member of Blast, a broadway musical that incorporates brass and percussion.
April 22, 2002 - The Minnesota Twins are back in first place in the AL Central division after sweeping a three-game series this weekend against the Cleveland Indians at the Metrodome. The series was payback for Cleveland's four-game sweep of the Twins last week. Gordon Wittenmeyer covers the Twins for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He says the Twins have had GREAT pitching, especially from their bull pen, which is ranked first in the major leagues right now.
