July 23, 1999 - Concordia College in Moorhead has gained an international reputation for its foreign language immersion summer camps. Most of the language villages are nestled in the woods of northern Minnesota. But this summer, for the first time, students from around the world are coming to Moorhead for an english language camp.

July 1, 1999 - Farmers gathered in Thief River Falls today to share their concerns with Minnesota Ag Commissioner Gene Hugoson and other officials. Heavy spring rains continuing into early summer have prevented farmers from planting millions of acres in northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota. For many area farmers it's another in a string of bad years and it may be the last straw for hundreds. Farmers say federal disaster aid is the only thing that will keep them going another year.
June 23, 1999 - Thousands of Kosovars are leaving refugee camps in Macedonia to return home. Meanwhile, some refugees are still arriving in the United States. About 45 Albanians who have come to Fargo in the past two weeks, are now trying to decide if they should return home.
June 18, 1999 - There's no sign of snow in the weekends forecast, but winter... and the sound of roaring engines... will be a focus this weekend in Roseau. The northern Minnesota town of 23-hundred will host more than 15-thousand guests for a birthday bash.... for the snowmobile.
June 10, 1999 - Second in a two-part series on Devils Lake, Mainstreet Radio’s Dan Gunderson reports on the concerns and plans for the lake in northeast North Dakota, which has risen nearly 25 feet in the past six years. Officials say with time running out, they are prepared to take drastic action. North Dakota officials say building an outlet now will control the water….but outlet plans have been stopped by opposition from Minnesota, Canada, and environmental groups.

The lake has no natural outlet to release water and above normal precipitation in recent years has raised the lake to levels not seen in recorded history.

April 19, 1999 - The sounds and sights of war in Kosovo are stirring some unpleasant memories for those who escaped fighting in nearby Bosnia in recent years. Many Bosnian war refugees resettled in Minnesota and the Dakotas, some in the cities, but many in rural areas.. The Hajdar family came to Pelican Rapids four years ago.
April 5, 1999 - The Red River water levels are falling today in Grand Forks, but the National Weather service is predicting a second crest on Sunday. Ice is now off most of the Red River, speeding the flow of water north to Lake Winnipeg. Rain and snow fell across northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota over the weekend, and more is forecast this week. The extra precipitation could prolong the high water for a week or more.
