August 20, 1996 - Officials at Minneapolis city hall say they're disturbed by a newspaper report alleging vice officers received favors to overlook illegal activity at a downtown strip club. Most city councilmembers expressed confidence in chief Robert Olson's ability to investigate the matter and to avoid future problems in enforcing vice laws. But at least one councilmember wants major changes in the department...including the ouster of its top deputies.
August 23, 1996 - MPR's John Bischoff reports on a security force of 350 people canvassing the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, prepared to quell any disturbance and maintain...if not peace, at least a semblance of public order.
