STEPHANIE HEMPHILL: Straight-line winds up to 90 miles an hour, knocked down millions of trees. The storm bounced across an area 30 miles long and up to 12 miles wide. Now young trees are growing up amidst the downed logs. Some areas are still very hard to walk through, but most Boundary Waters visitors stick to the lakes, portages and campsites. The forest service's John Pierce says it's interesting to see how the forest is growing back.
JOHN PIERCE: The best thing to do for people that are interested is just to see if they can get out on one of the hiking trails, or into the [? Bondi ?] waters where it happened. And if they want to-- if they want to see it just walk off the beaten path a little bit.
