A new short film on the Internet turns on its head the classic going-off-to-war song "Danny Boy." Frank Lesser, who's fresh out of Brown University film school and working as a writer in New York, wrote and directed the film "Danny Bot." In the news ... Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs has told employees that he's just had successful surgery for a rare form of pancreatic cancer. The 49 year-old wrote in the e-mail sent from his hospital bed that he plans to return to work in September after a month of recuperation. Jobs noted that his particular kind of pancreatic cancer is much less deadly than the more common kind. Jobs is also chairman and chief executive of Pixar Animation.
Miami-Dade County elections officials say they have found detailed electronic voting records from the 2002 gubernatorial primary that were originally believed lost in computer crashes last year. The Elections Supervisor office says the records were found on a compact disc in the office. The missing records incident marks the latest in a series of embarrassing episodes involving Florida voting since the turmoil of the 2000 presidential race, and gave new fuel to critics fighting for voter-verified paper ballot receipts.
