Former Gopher football coach Jim Wacker has died at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was 66. Wacker came to Minnesota from Texas Christian University, where he earned National Coach of the Year honors from three news organizations. He coached the Gophers from 1992 to 1996. John Roe is a retired Star Tribune reporter who covered the Gophers while Wacker was coach. Mr. Roe joins us now. John Roe is a retired sportswriter for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
