PAULA: Bill, it's not a real nice day. Right now, we've got southwesterly winds at 17 miles an hour. Let's hope those Northwest winds hold off until after the parade, I guess.
BILL CATLIN: Well, right. A lot of people here, I'd say there's maybe a couple hundred people here lining the Fillmore Avenue. Most of them in what has been called the Minnesota hunch, shoulders doubled over and started standing there, some shivering, some quite bundled up, and some wearing as little as a T-shirt and a windbreaker. It's kind of unbelievable.
But, yeah, the winds are strong enough. There's a guy out here with about a 14 foot wind sock atop a 12 foot aluminum pole. The windsock says, "Wind Twins," and that has been horizontal since I've been here about-- well, I got here about 20 minutes ago. It's a little bit chilly, but fans seem to be in pretty good spirits.
People came out-- I got here about 10:00 after 9:00, and spoke to a bunch of folks. They were all getting here to get a good seat, and there's plenty of good seats available here. Lots of empty spaces along both sides of the road.
Crowded, as I said, about 2 or 3 deep along the sides, and lots of good spirit here. A couple of, everybody's pretty much on the ground. There's a couple of kids up in a tree here holding up a sign that says, "Thanks Twins."
PAULA: So it's really not too cold out there, huh?
BILL CATLIN: Well--
PAULA: Pretty cold.
BILL CATLIN: It is. I'm not going to say it's not too cold. It is kind of chilly, and it's penetrating. I've got long Johns on, several layers, including my down jacket that I broke out earlier than normal, and I'm relatively comfortable, but when I have to take my gloves off to dial on the phone here, I can really feel it. So yeah, anybody planning to come out should definitely dress warmly.
PAULA: OK, but still plenty of space available out there. So if you want to get out to Holman Field, that's the Saint Paul downtown airport at Plato Boulevard off of Lafayette, and that would be the best way to go. Bill Catlin will be standing by throughout the morning to keep us updated on the situation. Thanks, Bill.
BILL CATLIN: You're welcome, Paula.
