Gifted children are those who " ... excel in any endeavor," not just those having high I.Q.s says Irving Sato, director of the National State Leadership Training Institute on the Gifted and Talented. This definition fits two percent of the student population. Because teachers haven't been trained in identifying gifted children, a committee (school psychologist, principal, and a teacher) evaluates the potentially gifted.
