SPEAKER 1: I will call for a vote on the main motion, which now, as amended, points out various of the failures, inadequacies, and poor judgments on the part of Nixon and therefore, calling for the precinct to contact representatives and senators regarding his-- encouraging his impeachment. All those in favor of the motion as it has now been amended signify by saying aye.

AUDIENCE: Aye.

SPEAKER: All those opposed? The motion is carried.

DENNIS HAMILTON: That was the most excitement this reporter could find in the DFL precinct caucuses held in Moorhead last night. I attended three of the five precinct caucus locations and counted a total of about 90 people attending. I noticed some differences in these caucuses, as opposed to those of two years ago.

Aside from a drop in attendance, there were lengthy explanations of the subcaucus procedures made necessary by DFL reforms. At one meeting, the caucus resembled a modern math class, as the caucus chairperson attempted to explain the subcaucus system. However, the DFL caucuses served their purpose.

Precinct chairpersons were nominated and elected, and delegates were selected to attend the Democratic County unit conventions to be held between March 16th and April 15 throughout Minnesota this year. This was a night of basic politics in Moorhead where citizens gathered together to kick off the election process that will culminate at the general election in November.
