February 3, 2006 - When is a candidate for governor NOT a candidate for governor? Governor Tim Pawlenty and several of his potential opponents disagree on that question. The governor's rivals say Pawlenty is clearly running for reelction so he should cancel his weekly radio show. But the governor and the station that airs the program says legally Pawlenty is not a candidate...and his opponents should not expect to get equal airtime. January 20, 2006 - Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Scheck reports on child advocate Patty Wetterling withdrawing from the U.S. Senate race and endorsing Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar. Wetterling said she made her decision so the DFL party would unite behind Klobuchar. While many political experts are calling Klobuchar the party's clear front-runner, fellow DFLer Ford Bell says he's in the race until the end.

December 16, 2005 - Governor Pawlenty says he's meeting with groups across the state to discuss the impact of undocumented immigrants on the state of Minnesota. Pawlenty says illegal immigration is a serious national problem and needs immediate attention. He says he plans on releasing several proposals over the next few months to toughen the state's immigration laws. Critics say Pawlenty is using the issue of immigration as a political wedge to help him get reelected next year. Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Scheck reports.
December 15, 2005 - Governor Pawlenty has named Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Russell Anderson as the next Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Pawlenty tapped Anderson to replace Kathleen Blatz who is retiring in January. The governor also named Hennepin County District Court Judge Lorie Gildea to succeed Anderson. November 9, 2005 - MPR’s Tom Scheck reports on Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak’s re-election. He's gearing up for a second term after voters in the state's biggest city re-elected him yesterday. Rybak defeated Peter McLaughlin, Hennepin County Commissioner, 61 to 37 percent. Rybak says the voters want a mayor who has a positive vision for the city and is independent of special interests.
