October 17, 1972 - Proposed coal terminal on Pig's Eye Lake. Proponents speak to the excellent access to railways and the need for low-sulfur coal. The port authority says that sufficient gas is not available. The plan calls for development of open space land for recreational purposes and they claim that there'll be no environmental impact of the development. Opposition would like to preserve the area entirely for wildlife and is the last undeveloped area in the region. Further public hearings will be held.
October 16, 1972 - MANS or Metro Area Narcotics Squad funding, which had been funded by the federal government, is coming to an end. The area counties have agreed to continue narcotics squad funding.
October 13, 1972 - Periodic discharges spurting from local manholes. Sewer working cleaning up foam in the streets from sewer back-up. Manholes covers are blown off the manhole. The color of the foam and discharged is described. The city claims that the man hole covers haven't actually blown off.
October 13, 1972 - How democrates and republican parties fundraise. Richard Moe, Minnesota Democratic Chairman, talks about fundraising. Republicans claiming that they don't have enough money and the democrats are saying that they are doing well financially. Minnesota republican chairman David Krogseng speaks to the republican need to raise more funding. The democrats state they are proud of the amount of small contributions that they have.
October 6, 1972 - Project Newgate helps reintegrate paroled convicted felons and offers opportunity to complete a college degree. All candidates favor prison reform. Phyllis Kahn, (DFL), believes that the auto review offenders every six months. Prisoners even think prison is necessary. There is a place for incarceration in our society, but that people hit a pinnacle in their sentence and reform and guidance is needed. Earl Fish, graduate of project Newgate, speaks for the project and the need for training and to be in the community.
October 6, 1972 - Citizens voice their opinions against a new low income housing high rise. Loss of sun is a major complaint from the community regarding the building plans. The community also rejects the building on the grounds that it's being built to house low income individuals, without enough parking and no recreational facilities. It's perceived to be a fire hazard and that it'll create greater population density.
October 6, 1972 - Due to the processes of democracy the processes have been very slow, such as contract health services. If this legislation gets through congress, health services will improve for native indians. The health bill did pass. Mr. Skinnendor is the identified speaker.
September 29, 1972 - Governor talk. Don Fraiser states that McGovern leads. Poll shows Nixon was leading but the next poll show McGovern leading
