The union representing custodians and school bus drivers, and the school district have reached a tentative agreement. The rank and file could vote on the deal this afternoon. It gives the workers a 12-point-7 percent pay raise over 2 years. November 24, 2000 - Record Cold Days Preceding Thanksgiving Earlier this week, a cold Canadian high pressure system brought record cold to our region. Sioux Falls, SD reported a new record cold maximum temperature of only 13 degrees F on Monday, November 20th. Cambridge and St Cloud Minnesota reported new record lows for Tuesday, November 21st with -6 and -3 degrees F, respectively. Orr, MN reported a record low of -6 degrees F on Wednesday, November 22 this was also the lowest temperature in the lower 48 states on Wednesday and Red Wing reported a record low of 5 degrees F on the same morning. Most of these records were associated with new snow cover established last week. Thankfully, a strong warming trend will return temperatures to the 30s and 40s F for the Thanksgiving Holiday period.

The Vikes are 9 and 2 on the season, and in first place in the Central Division by 2 games over the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Daunte Culpepper had his best passing day of the year against Carolina with 357 yards in the air, and 3 touchdowns. The defense had 5 sacks, and 2 interceptions, the first in six weeks. For years, political scientists have tried to figure out what motivates people to vote. One school of thought suggests that voting is a fundamentally irrational act because any single vote wont change the outcome of an election. Jane Mansbridge is a professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. She says making the decision to vote can be a complicated process.
