October 18, 1973 - NSP has requested a twenty percent rate hike in electric rates. St. Paul has a provision in its charter to allow public hearings before rates go into effect, Minneapolis does not. St. Paul residents pay less than Minneapolis. Bill Mailand, vice-president of the Greater Metropolitan Federation says the Minneapolis charter should be amended to allow a hearing. Ruth Murphy, president of the Greater Metropolitan Federation says even if a hearing is held it would have no legal effect on rate hikes. A petition drive would be needed to make this a city council priority. She says the people in this city have no say; witness the domed stadium issue. Mailand says it?s difficult to lobby against the big utilities.

October 17, 1973 - Anderson details steps to deal with the energy crisis and fuel shortage in Minnesota and the nation. He says conservation measures and sacrifices are needed, as well as national leadership for state cooperation. He talks about labor unions vs. environmentalists, citing Reserve Mining as an example of resolved conflict. Finally he discusses women?s role in politics, discrimination, and says a larger pool of women with law training is needed.
October 11, 1973 - While the Minnesota legislature takes a recess, committees and subcommittees continue to meet to discuss specific items to be voted on when both the House and Senate return to work. Included are descriptions of subcommittee meetings to work out issues such as prison funding, state administered pension plans for small businesses, and whether or not Minnesota would benefit from the establishment of a Department of Transportation.
September 4, 1973 - MPR’s Dulcie Lawrence interviews labor movement leaders Myrtle Harris, Nellie Stone Johnson, and Ann Lewis. The three talk about changes unions have brought about for women in the American workplace.

July 5, 1973 - Martin Abel, an expert on agriculture from the University of Minnesota, discusses the current state of supply and demand of the United States food supply with regards to foreign markets. Included is a discussion regarding inflationary practices, and possible solutions.
July 3, 1973 - Appointed in the wake of the Minnesota legislature's move to expand the size of the state Supreme Court, newly sworn-in justices Lawrence Yetka and George Scott discuss the differences between the state and federal Supreme Courts, and how things will change for them in their new roles. Featured is audio of the swearing in ceremony, featuring outgoing chief justice Oscar Knutson.
