August 31, 1999 - Sara Jane Olson, formerly Kathleen Soliah, was back in Los Angeles Superior Court today, more than a month after being released from custody on a million dollars bail. Her case has been assigned to a trial court judge. Olson's attorneys say there have been no plea bargain negotiations. They say they expect the case will go to trial this fall.
August 24, 1999 - Anglers on Mille Lacs Lake are seeing the best walleye catch in at least seven years. Half a million pounds of walleye have been taken from the lake this summer; another 200-thousand pounds caught and released. While thats great for resorters and tourists, it also means the so-called safe harvest level for Mille Lacs has already been exceeded, with the popular fall fishing season still to come.

June 18, 1999 - The House of Representatives soundly defeated a wide-ranging gun control bill this afternoon. After hours of debate and votes on ten amendments addressing such things as background checks, saftey locks and age requirements for gun owners, the measure was defeated 280 to 147. The bill would have strengthened some current controls and weakened others. Minnesota's congressional delegation largely opposed the bill as Emily Harris reports from Washington.
May 21, 1999 - The massive emergency spending bill to pay for the war in Kosovo passed the Senate today, 64 to 36, after being approved by the House earlier this week. Tucked away in the nearly 15 billion dollar bill is long awaited money to help for farmers facing low commodity prices following several seasons of bad weather. But some long-time ag supporters voted against the bill -- and farmers say it's still not enough.
August 20, 1997 - Over the last two years dozens of communities around the state have constructed indoor hockey rinks with help from the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission. But the ice rink boom may be coming to an end. Communities don't seem quite as eager to get their hands on the "Mighty Ducks" grants, named after the "all-heart" hockey pee-wees of the popular Disney movies. One town has even voted down a Mighty Ducks project. Minnesota Public Radio's Bill Wareham reports.
