Supporters say the bill would help teach patriotism to children, but opponents say the state shouldn't force students to recite the pledge.

Of the 2.9 billion dollars of total spending, the package contains 283 million dollars in new spending. That's nearly three times the new spending proposed by Governor Ventura.
