September 30, 2005 - MPR’s Brandt Williams reports that the Minnesota Twins 2005 season ends during upcoming weekend game at the Metrodome. For the first time in three years, the team will not finish at the top of their division or go to the playoffs. Instead, Twins players and many fans will spend this fall and winter pondering what went wrong and what the team will have to do to make a stronger showing next season.
July 15, 2005 - MPR's Brandt Williams reports on the Minnesota Twins loss in the first game of the second half of the season, falling to the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 at the Metrodome. The loss puts the Twins 10 games behind the division leading Chicago White Sox.
November 11, 2004 - MPR's Brandt Williams reports that Minnesota Twins pitcher Johan Santana has been named the 2004 American League Cy Young award winner. The honor is given each year by the Baseball Writers association of America to the most statistically dominant pitchers in both Major League Baseball divisions. Santana, a 25-year-old left hander, recorded the most strikeouts of any pitcher in the American league, the lowest earned run average and the second highest number of victories.
October 9, 2004 - The Minnesota Twins will be trying to keep their postseason hopes alive the next time they take the field in the Metrodome after an 8-4 loss to the New York Yankees in Game 3 of American League Divisional Series. The Twins trail their best-of-five-games playoff series, 2-1.
September 20, 2004 - MPR’s William Wilcoxen profiles Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Johan Santana as he ties a team record by winning his twelfth game in a row. With a 19-6 record and three different dominant pitches, Santana is a favorite to win the Cy Young Award in 2004.
July 13, 2004 - Expectations have always been high for Joe Mauer. Long before the Twins chose the St. Paul native as their top draft pick in 2001, Mauer was considered a sports phenom. If his rookie season is any indication, the Minnesota Twins catcher will be rubbing elbows with the league's other top talents in a not-too-distant All-Star game.
October 6, 2003 - MPR's William Wilcoxen reports that more than 55,000 fans crowded into the Metrodome only to see an 8-1 loss end the Minnesota Twins' baseball season. After winning the first game, the Twins scored only once in each of the next three games...allowing the Yankees to take the best-of-five playoff series three games to one.
October 1, 2003 - After two years worth of losses to the New York Yankees, the Minnesota Twins earned a victory when it mattered most. The Twins took the lead in their best-of-five-game playoff series by beating New York 3-1 in Yankee Stadium on the strength of strong Twins pitching and solid fielding.
September 30, 2003 - It's been more than thirty years since the Minnesota Twins last made back-to-back appearances in the post season, but the Central Division champion Twins begin playoff action for the second time in as many years when they take the field in New York against the Eastern Division champion Yankees. It caps a season that saw the Twins go from high hopes to utter disappointment and back again.
September 19, 2003 - MPR's William Wilcoxen reports on Minnesota Twins completion of a three game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 5-3 victory at the Metrodome. The win gives the Twins a three-and-a-half game lead over the White Sox in their race for the division title and a spot in the playoffs.
