April 29, 1974 - Model Cities was created by the 1966 Model Cities Grant passed during the Johnson Administration. In 1968 Minneapolis began their Model Cities project planning to improve a designated neighborhood. In 1973 President Nixon attempted to phase out Model Cities. However, the federals courts ordered President Nixon to spend the money Congress allocated for the program.

April 29, 1974 - MPR’s Bob Potter interviews Mulford Q. Sibley, University of Minnesota political science professor, about President Nixon and impeachment. Sibley states Vietnam has caused a culture of deception in American politics, and that impeachment of President Nixon should include Vietnam war crimes as well.

May 13, 1974 - MPR’s Connie Goldman profiles newly formed organization Minnesota Committee for Gay Rights. Report includes comments from visiting guests and Allan Spear, a co-chair of group, about purpose and goals of organization.
May 13, 1974 - State Senator Spear talks about the formation of the Minnesota Committee for Gay Rights, a broad-based movement for gay rights in Minnesota, to bring gay rights into the mainstream of the human rights movement. The goal is to achieve full equality for gay people and rights in Minnesota, change the law, public attitude, educate people, politicize, and create a better life in Minnesota for gay people.

May 23, 1974 - Princeton economist Burton Malkiel says market pessimism is unwarranted.
May 23, 1974 - Ralph Nader says Exon is the entity telling America it has an energy shortage. Nader posits that three things are needed to "orchestrate" a shortage: oil company monopolies, White House co-operation, and a cover--in this case,the Arab oil embargo. To counter this inbalance, the public should educate themselves and fight back.
